We will be continuing our program of student-led Socratic Seminars during the spring semester.
Here is how to prepare for the Socratic Seminar when you facilitate:
Step 1: Sign up to facilitate a Socratic Seminar
This step is very simple - just sign up for one of the spots on this schedule!
Step 2: Complete the Socratic Seminar Planner
Together, you and your co-facilitator complete the Socratic Seminar Planner. This takes you through every step of planning a Socratic Seminar, from choosing the text to coming up with evidence-based arguments and counter-arguments. This is due on the Monday before your Socratic Seminar.
You can find articles here (or you can look more widely and find your own):
Step 3: Facilitate the Socratic Seminar
Step 4: Reflect on the Socratic Seminar
After the seminar, each facilitator will write a 1-2 page reflection about the process - what was positive about the seminar, and what can be changed so it works better next time. (I'll need this by the Monday after the Socratic Seminar)
