What this project is all about
One of the first things you notice when you read Sherman Alexie’s Absolutely True Diary of A Part-Time Indian is that it is full of drawings and multi-panel comics that provide insights into the life of the narrator, Arnold “Junior” Spirit, a Spokane Indian who lives on the reservation in Wellpinit, Washington. We created our own comics, but ours aren't about Junior’s life, they’re about the historical reasons that Junior’s life is like it is.
You can see my prototype of the comic here
For this project, we collaborated with All Tribes Charter School in Valley Center, and Cal State San Marcos.

Our "Short List"
Fifteen comics were selected by a jury of experts around the world for inclusion in our "short list". Here they are (in no particular order):
Photos of working, and first drafts
This slideshow shows us working on the comics, and includes some of the first drafts that we scanned into photoshop. Because our drawings were, in most cases, larger than the scanner, we had to scan different sections. Hence, most of the "first draft" pictures only show one portion of the comic.
