Honors - SAT II prep As I sent in an email, here are the expectation for Honors SAT II prep:
Every two weeks, Honors students read five chapters of Barron's and take the mini-quiz. Then, write up how you annotated those five chapters, how you did on the quiz, and what you are going to do the same/differently for the next five chapters. This will be due every other Friday, meaning the next write-up will be due on Friday, October 3rd. If Barron's isn't working for you as a primary textbook, I recommend you read a different textbook and just use Barron's for the quizzes. Then, you can skim Barron's in the month before the actual SAT II, in order to refresh your memory. You can long-term borrow any of my textbooks, including US History for Dummies, use one of the online textbooks listed here, or buy your own book (if you're planning on buying, I recommend US History for Dummies, but there are other options available too, such as Don't Know Much About History and The Mental Floss History of the United States. Take lots of quizzes! I've written an explanation for this, with links to lots of free quizzes, here. In addition, I strongly recommend meeting in study groups, and I'd be happy for you to use my room for this after school or during lunch (as long as you talk to me in advance!). Finally, watch the Crash Course US History videos. They're well-done and they're free! What we're doing today in class:In-class notebook work
