As a requirement for Honors, you will read two books this spring: a non-fiction book (such as a work of US history) and a book written before the twentieth century.
These books should be challenging - I recommend choosing a book that's right on the edge of what you're able to understand. With this in mind, I strongly encourage you to read your book in a group. Here's how to do this:
These books should be challenging - I recommend choosing a book that's right on the edge of what you're able to understand. With this in mind, I strongly encourage you to read your book in a group. Here's how to do this:
- Choose a non-fiction book to read. Write your book down here.
- Form a reading group of 2-6 people. Write down your reading group on the second sheet of the same spreadsheet.
- Make a reading schedule (I made a template here). Put it in the shared folder here.
- In your group, start a "Discussion Doc" where your discussion will “live”. Put it in the shared folder here.
- You can find an example of a completed "Discussion Doc" here (this is from a project by another teacher).
- Make your own Discussion Doc using this template.
- If you’re reading your book on your own, start a blog on your DP instead, and email the link to me.
